Edina's Roos wins 2A boys' title; less than half second separates top three in 1A boys

Class 1A: Finish for the ages in boys' race, 8th-grader Wolfgram runs away from girls' field

Tierney Wolfgram of Math & Science Academy won the 1A girls' championship.

In a race with the top three finishers within a half second of each other, Declan Dahlberg of Mounds Park won the Class 1A boys' cross-country championship Saturday at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

Dahlberg ran the 5,000-meter course in a time of 15 minutes, 56.9 seconds, just 0.2 seconds ahead of Matt Steiger of LaCrescent. Carl Kozlowski of Lake City placed third in 15:57.3.

Mora won the 1A boys' team title with 93 points, followed by Perham with 99 points and La Crescent with 123 points.

In the Class 1A girls' race, the winner was eighth-grader Tierney Wolfgram of Math & Science Academy in a time of 18 minutes, 23.6 seconds. She finished about 45 seconds of second-place finisher Marissa Whitehead of Martin County West. Brynnan Covington of Perham was third.

Fairmont won the Class 1A girls' team title with 84 points, followed by Perham in second and Annandale in third.
